Advocate Outreach Message and Bullet-Point Overview

Hi [Name],

I’m reaching out because I’m in a life-threatening legal and housing situation right now, and I remembered the work you do for our community. I don’t know if you can help directly, but I’m hoping you might know someone who can — even just one referral could mean everything right now.

🚨 Violations I’m Facing as a Trans, Disabled, Displaced Human

📍Foreclosure & Eviction

  • Evicted by sheriff without any real notice or warning.
  • Court never had jurisdiction — they failed legal service rules (no personal service, no mail, no posting).
  • Never informed of my right to a required settlement conference under Indiana law.
  • Lender lied in court filings saying I had been offered a chance to resolve — I wasn’t.
  • I’m fighting this alone, pro se, because I can’t get legal representation.

🧠 ADA Violations

  • I disclosed my disabilities (ADHD, trauma, executive dysfunction) and requested ADA accommodations in writing.
  • They ignored every request and evicted me anyway.
  • No modification of communication, no accessible notice, nothing.
  • I’ve filed with HUD and I’m preparing a DOJ complaint.

🌈 Gender Discrimination

  • I’m trans. My gender-affirming appearance was stripped from me because of the eviction. I don’t have clothes, grooming tools, or medication.
  • I’ve applied to dozens of jobs using my real photo and been ignored. I’m now testing if switching back to a male-presenting photo will get responses. I’m being forced to erase myself to survive.

⚡ Utility Shutoff

  • AES Indiana is scheduled to shut off electricity Dec 17.
  • I submitted my IHEAP confirmation. I have a pending ADA accommodation request. They’re ignoring it.
  • If I get back into the house, I still won’t be able to live there without power. It’s a second eviction.

🆘 What I Need

  • Help finding legal counsel (even limited or advisory).
  • Anyone who can advocate, escalate, or connect me to the right people.
  • Someone who sees what this is and can say, “enough.”

Thank you for your time.
Humbly,
Cody Rice-Velasquez
